All of the calculations done by Yagi Mechanical® are based on specifications here in the Materials Tab. There are many built-in types of material included for commonly available tubing but if you need to add or change anything, below is a listing of the available options.
Note: All fields are required to get accurate calculations using a material defined here.
- Search Filter - Type in part or all of a material name to show just the entries that match.
- Name - Built-in names use industry standard designations for metal alloys.
- Density - YM uses this to determine the weights of the tubing used in your design and the portion of stresses due to weight.
- Modulus of Elasticity - This material property quantifies how likely it is to change shape under stress.
- Yield Strength - The maximum stress that a material can withstand before it loses structural integrity.
- Add Button - Click to add a new material to the list.
- Remove Button - Use this to remove the selected material from YM.
Note: Yagi Mechanical® will prevent removing materials that are in use by any defined Tubing. Any changes to the material will be carried over to any pieces of tubing in the design that use it. While YM will try to match up tubing for a loaded file, if it specifies a material that has been modified you may need to manually assign the correct type after a change.
